DETAILS
Edelbrock #8846 Water Pump Ford 5.0L 1965-68 289, 1968-69 351w Polished. Ideal to prevent overheating in street rods and street machines, as well as in tow rigs and motorhomes. Using state-of-the-art racing technology, Edelbrock has designed these "super cooling" Water Pumps to provide maximum flow, maximum pressure and equal distribution to both sides of the block within 1%. Available for most popular applications, these high performance pumps flow in only one direction for optimum efficiency. The casting's computer-designed internal passages and precision powdered metal impeller produce the maximum flow rate possible.

Installation Notes | INSTALLATION NOTES: - Installation is the same as for original equipment water pumps - Consult service manual for specific procedures, if necessary - Remove two screws from backing plate and apply RTV silicone to gasket just before installation - Reassemble backing plate and install on engine using RTV silicone - Be sure that the fan bolts don't protrude through the hub so far that they hit the water pump housing - Check closely for any interference with drive belts; some filing for clearance may be necessary with some applications- The distance from the flange surface to the hub should measure 5.75".Incorrect alignment or an unbalanced condition puts excessive strain on the pump's shaft and/or bearing and will result in early failure of the shaft and/or bearing. The balance of the assembly depends primarily upon the concentricity of the fan clutch with the pump shaft. Concentricity is not assured when universal type clutches are used. The universal fan clutch has a 3/4" pilot hole, so an adapter must be used when installing a water pump with a 5/8" shaft. This adapter bushing is supplied with the unit. These adapter bushings add to the machine tolerances of the assembly, so special care must be taken to maintain concentricity with the shaft and the clutch fan. The use of aftermarket (non-OEM) fan spacers are not recommended and will void the warranty of the water pump. |
